Question:

Why are there additives in my bottled water?

Shouldn‘t it just be bottled water? In the ingredients it claims to have all of this:purified water, magnesium sulfate, potassium bicarbonate, and potassium chloride. What purpose does this serve? The water is still 0 calories, 0 fat, 0 color, 0 taste, and 0 everything else you expect water to be. just there are unidentified substances in it.Thanks.

Answer:

Bottled water is defined in the Food and Drug Regulations. www.hc-sc.gc.ca/fn-an/securit/fac.
Potassium Bicarbonate In Bottled Water
Magnesium sulfate (Epsom salts) has several therapeutic uses, from treating eclampsia to preventing diarrhea. Potassium bicarbonate is often found in bottled water, used to affect taste (according to pedia.) Potassium chloride is used for a variety of things, but in this case, it's probably a water softener (to remove minerals that give water a bad taste.) I'd say, though, that if they are identifying the additives, then there probably aren't any unidentified subtances in your water.
