Question:

why can quartz occur in any metamorphic facies?

why can quartz occur in any metamorphic facies?yes its part of my homework... but im really stumped.. please help

Answer:

Crystal or crystal glass as it is also known is a highly transparent glass that has a higher than usual refractive index. The composition of crystal varies from manufacturer to manufacturer, but most contain a fair amount of lead oxide which gives the glass its high refractive index and beauty. It also has a higher density than normal soda glass. Crystal glass does contain silica, SiO2, but it is certainly not quartz. Quartz is a mineral composed entirely of SiO2.
A real crystal object will sing when tapped with a solid object. Get somthing which is claiming to be crystal and somthing glas and tap them with somthing soild very lightly as to not break them, you will hear the diffrence. Crystal will 'sing' when tapped
