Question:

why cant you get soft towels when using front loader washing machines?

we have one

Answer:

My towels are soft and I have a front load washing machine. Try putting in smaller loads...many people overstuff these machines and then wonder why their clothes are not cleaned properly. I use the proper he detergent and liquid fabric softener.
You are obviously not using the machine properly. We have no such problems with our towels. There are number of things that can cause this. - overloading - too much detergent - wrong detergent - too low a spin speed. - water supply (hard water) - fabric softener compartment is being overfilled and is dumping the fabric softener on the WASH CYCLE.
They don't go into a high enough spin to get all the soap out. When they are dried they never feel fluffy. I hear all the time how I should get a front loader because they use less water, blah blah blah. I will stick with a top loader.
