Question:

Why Cold Air Intake?

I hear and see a lot of talk and commotion about how cold air intakes helps put out more horsepower. But i don‘t get it! HOW would colder air add more horsepower? I can‘t picture how that works?Colder air more power? Air is just air, isn‘t it.The only thing i can think of is, colder air helps keep the engine cooler, and that makes it perform a little better. Be sides that, i just plain don‘t get it!!

Answer:

yeah colder air supplies more air to your engine because it is more dense kind of like how you get more gas when your in cold weather it really isnt that much more horsepower though. and it only works when you rev the engine up usually past 5000 rpms but if you drive your car normally, shift at the normal time, etc, you can get better gas mileage (a little)
dont wax your windshield, it looks good, until you turn the wipers on, then it looks cloudy. take your wiper blades and use alcohol pads on the rubber, they get dirt and grime on them and the alcohol will take it off.
the wipers may be in a different shape than your windsheild. Try to use windshield wipers that eliminate the rain (I think its called rainx wipers) They are squarish and compact
The purpose of these things are to get cold air inside of the engine ( pistons). The car will give you better performance if you add cold air to the pistons. Cold air has more oxigen that hot air. Have you seen some car that have long tubes, that go almost around the engine all the way down? that's for getting cold air. They are trying to get as much cold air posible becuase in the engine comparment there is much hot air than cold due to there more parts moving. Turbo chargers they actually have a big type of radiator that makes the air cold. They give you better performance. ( they also compresed the air into the cylinder walls) Nitrus pretty much same thing ( cold),. Last thing: Pay attention a car will perform better in a cold weather than a hot weather. Did It help my man?
First, I'll explain how this works. Cold air molecules are more densely packed together, so when an intake is sucking in the cooler air from outside the engine compartment, it's actually getting more air. The engine sees the extra dense air and adds the correct amount of fuel and BAM.more power. The main downside is that Cold Air Intakes (CAI) have longer intake tracts, so the engine needs to be at a higher rpm to fully realize the benefit. That is why CAI usually makes more power at mid to high RPMS (which is where you are at when you are racing anyways) so it works out great. Short Rams intakes are sucking in the warmer air under the hood, and generally getting less, but the short intake tract means better throttle response and more low end torque. Personally, I think CAI is the best way to go if you can. Hope this helps.
