Why did people hate wesley crusher on star trek, i thought he was cute?
i've never heard anything about anyone not liking him, although i honestly don't know too many fans of the show anyway... i thought he was supercool, especially considering the fact that he was so much younger than everyone. think how many times he saved the day!
I thought his lines were bad, and he didn't deliver them all that well. He's such a talented funny writer. He has written stories about doing that show. He admits to having some bad lines. People in Starfleet never lie, or something like that. Naive and silly.
I'd count myself as ambivalent. I guess the same reason people hated Ewoks and Jar Jar something in Star Wars, it was seen as demeaning and lowering the 'seriousness' story of the series and was done instead as a prop meant to attract kids instead of adults.
He was like Will Robinson only without the Robot. He simply did not fit in on the show. Plus what was the deal with that hair doo? Early fifties goober doo. he was the stale pause in the conversation as everyone seemed to have to talk around or down to him. It is not the actor's fault, the dialog was written that way but I would have dropped the character from his inception.
