Question:

Why do firemen put blankets over people coming out of a fire zone?

I'm not referring to people who are running around and burning alive. I mean, just people who have been rescued from a building or a fire zone. I'm curious. What purpose does the blanket serve? To keep the person warm? Standard operating procedure? Please enlighten me.

Answer:

On the windows, there are probably two pieces that have to touch or line up when the alarm is set. Some time when the alarm is not on, like during the day, you could unscrew the piece attached to the window and leave it on the sill in front of the other piece. Then the window can be opened without setting off the alarm. But it would then render the alarm useless against a burglar on that window, so I'm not sure that's a good idea. The piece on the sill may simply need to detect metal, in which case, slipping a refrigerator magnet between the two pieces might do it. If it's infrared with a beam, which would be really high end, a mirror might work to reflect the beam back to the sensor. I know you told us not to say it, but sneaking out is a really bad idea. Her parents are trying to protect her. Sneaking out isn't nearly as much fun as it seems like it would be, and nothing good every came about from it.
I think you would be hot with red hair.
