Question:

why do kittens poo on sofas?

got a 8 week kitten she is litter trained but still poos on sofa at night

Answer:

you must train your kitten well....like me..my kitten poo on the sofa at first and then we train him by going outside and he will follow then we will go to a sandy part of the ground and then it starts sniffing the ground then there..he will poo on there..we do this EVERYDAY EVERYTIME he FINISHES EATING...then after that ..our cat won't poo on our sofa anymore ....follow my trick then your cat won't poo on your sofa anymore
It is not the norm, but neither is it always possible to understand these things. If fortunate a kitten only needs showing the tray once, providing it's mother has done her bit. Is it only poos? I have an elderly rescue cat which will happily use a tray for wees, but wants to go outside for a poo. Do you do something with the tray before retiring which may affect the kittens attitude to it? Is it always in the same place? Can you make the sofa unattractive or difficult to use? Perhaps with a blanket carrying a pungent smell. It really is a matter of detective work and the animals personality and experiences. Good luck!
Make sure you wash the sofa covers, because any remaining smell can cause your kitten to go back and do her business there. That happened to my new kitten too. Once we washed the covers and introduced her to the litter box, she stopped immediately.
You need to train her properly.
because she is not properly trained..
