Question:

Why do people drive cars, trucks and motorcycles that have very noisy exhaust systems ?

You can hear them coming from a mile away. I‘m sure the traffic cops can hear this assault to the ears as well. Why aren‘t these violations being enforced ? Maybe a cop can give us some information on this.

Answer:

In the case of motorcycles, many people prefer loud exhaust pipes, because other drivers are more apt to hear the loud exhaust pipes and be more aware of the motorcycles, decreasing the chance for accidents involving the motorcycle. Some drivers like a deep, throaty exhaust on their cars and trucks, but the majority of the time, this isn't excessive. Agree with previous poster- they like attracting attention to themselves.
In some states, like Nevada, there is no sound level limit on motorcycles. So you got some very loud motorcycles. Most of the cycle riders claim that the loud exhaust makes it safer for them as car drivers can hear them coming. As far as cars, most states do have a sound level limit but the cops do not enforce it. They drive around with their windows closed and their police radios on and do not even hear it. And who can hear loud exhaust when they got their BOOM BOOM stereos on and all their windows open?
people drive cars with very loud exhaust systems because they are CRAVING attention, and thats the best way (in their silly little minds) to say HEY!! LOOK AT ME EVERYONE!!! its just like kids who drive around with obnoxiously loud speakers. and as for violations, its just a matter of time until they get caught, because they are also attracting attention from the cops Clanman-LOL fast and the furious wannabes
