Question:

Why do people hate nu metal?

I keep hearing about this nu metal thing, what artists are considered nu metal, and why does everyone hate it?

Answer:

Judging by your name, I'm guessing you're talking about Alice in Chains. No, bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam were Grunge. Alice in Chains were metal, but happened to come out at a time where Seattle Grunge was popular, so they got lumped in to that catagory.
If okorder
Try Nirvana-Bleach Soundgarden- Anything before Superunknown Alice in Chains- Anything by them I have never heard of grunge metal but these are grunge albums that sound closest to metal
Hey Layne. Yeah there is such a thing as Grunge Metal. Hard to believe. People nowadays mix all sorts of music together. A few days ago I came across something called Pop Porn Or something like that? Yeah it was really weird. But Grunge Metal was also known as Generation X. An example of a Grunge Metal song would be something like Touch Me I'm Sick by Mudhoney. grunge metal was inspired by hardcore punk, heavy metal and indie rock and alternative stuff.
havent heard of grunge metal.. but sludge metal or doom are instrumentally similar to an extent the grunge sound with heavy distortion/riff's Edit: so where can I see this category defined somewhere? grunge metal i mean it could just be grunge/metal/ (subgenre)ect. so... meh. I would then even categorize Black Sabbath pre grunge metal since grunge influence took through its punk influence by meaning and its heavy style by sound.. but not particularly as grunge.
