Question:

Why do riding mowers and vacuum cleaners?

have headlights?

Answer:

you never know when you gotta mow the lawn at night. Or maybe it's like driving on the road, you turn them on for safety...other vacumers and mower drivers can see you
well... so all the little buggies crawiling in the carpet and the grass will know when too take cover!!! and so you wont run over anyone i guess... who could get run over by a vacuum cleaner?! mowers... i understand (lamb chops!!!!)
With vacuum cleaners I suppose its used so that you won't suck up something valuable in a dark area, like the time my sister sucked up a $20 she left on the floor in her closet. As for riding mowers, I think its only there so you can use it during the night.
On a riding lawn mower, so you can see obstructions if you are cutting under a shady tree, or bush. Commercial lawn maintenance people cut grass before the sun comes up at five in the morning for federal buildings. The light on the vacuum cleaner is handy yet again for seeing when vacuuming under a desk or table where the lighting is dim.
I don't know about the vacuum cleaners but the lights on the mower are so you can get home from the bar safely!
