Question:

Why does aluminum in deodorant cause cancer?

I heard that if your deodorant contains aluminun, you can get cancer from it. Why? Why would the aluminum cause cancer and how? Does it get into your skin or what? And why does it cause cancer? Is it the same aluminum that's in aluminum can? Thanks. All answers are appreciated.

Answer:

As stated, there is no direct eviddence it causes cancer. It can block pores and cause an infection, similar to what make up can do.
There is no conclusive research linking the use of underarm antiperspirants or deodorants and the subsequent development of breast cancer.
No scientific study has shown a link between aluminium in antiperspirant and cancer. Use of one of these antiperspirants is not listed as an increased risk for breast cancer on any reputable breast cancer site. Most women who develop breast cancer have used an aluminium based antiperspirant, but so have most women who have NOT developed breast cancer. Aluminium traces can be found in some breast tumors, but this is true both for women who use an aluminium based antiperspirant and those who don't. This is just a theory that while it sounds very plausible has never been shown to be fact.
