Question:

Why does Cinnamon Toast Crunch have 2% Copper?

I was looking at the ingredients and it wrote 2% copper. I was wondering is it the metal copper? Or is it some other stuff that's called copper? Because if they used metal dust from copper that ****'s nasty...

Answer:

Look at a bowl of Bran Flakes or Corn Flakes with a magnifying glass you can see the iron filings.
Tim is essentially correct, though it is a form of copper that isn't toxic.
You're misreading the label. What that means is that the cereal provides 2% of the USDA recommended daily allowance for copper. not that the cereal is made of 2% copper.
You body need some metals in your system (iron) to function correct. Metal in you food is not going to hurt you. Personally I think it is more fun to think of the fact that in your average chocolate bar there is approximately 10 bug legs. Perfectly allowed by the US government by the way.
Most if not all foods have metals in them - they're just in TRACE amounts. It's not like they grate a slab of copper into the cereal or anything; the copper is just naturally present (yes it is copper as in copper the element but not like sprinkles of the shiny stuff). We actually need these metals in trace amounts for our body. Like we need iron for blood; it's not like we need to go bite a gate to obtain our iron but the amount that naturally exists in foods is what we need - same thing in this scenario with the copper. There's loads of things like this. Calcium is actually a metal but I'm sure you know we need it in our bones and teeth and it naturally occurs in things like milk. Don't freak out, they aren't feeding you wiring or anything, it's probably naturally there :)
