Question:

Why Does My Cat Sleep On Carpets?

I mean, he can sleep on the couch, on his bed, on our beds, even the pillow pet is softer than the carpets! He prefers sleeping on entrance mats, the carpet in front of my fridge, the carpet in front of my stove and on the carpet under my bed. It's cute, but weird.

Answer:

I know, same with my two indoor cats Tinkerbell and Diablo. They will sleep on the carpet at the bottom/top of our staircase, their cat tree, their dog-sized pillow bed, the pillow bed in our room by the bay window, at the foot of our beds. I noticed when they choose resting on the carpet, they have a view of people coming and going. Since they can see all areas of our home I'm thinking it's instinct or something along those lines. Neither of my cats are skittish so they don't feel the need to hide. Diablo though, occasionally sleeps under our bed probably so he's not disturbed by family.
sort of like scratching posts cats are attracted to the texture of it and it might be more easy to sleep on that and stretch out by just digging his claws into the mat rather then having to get up and do it else where. I believe its great your cat isn't sleeping on your bed (mine do and I have to be constantly be cleaning it to avoid pollution). my cat likes to sleep on sheets of paper on the floor lol
My cats are the same as yours. Couldnt figure it out. My husband solved the riddle for me. It was what was under the carpet. Heat ducts ran where they slept and it was the warmth that mine were seaking. Hope this helps
My cat does it too. She just liked the feel of the carpets, I guess. Do you have heated floors? It might be like Barbara said, they just liked the warmth. My cat likes the warmth so much that she sleeps on our vent! Haha.
maybe he likes the feel of the carpet haha
