Question:

Why does my cat suck on my blanket?

I just found a stray kitten today and decided to bring her home with meI've only had her for a few hours, but so far all she wants to do is suck on my blanketShe's really sweet, but she doesn't act like a normal kitten; she's not even playfulI figured it's probably a normal thing for kittens to want to suck on things since they are used to nursing, but this cat is too old to want to nurseI fed her dry food and she ate it with no problem, so I'm not sure why she keeps sucking on everythingDo you think this is something she will grow out of?

Answer:

Sorry, you are not going to be able to get polyfill to lie flat and stay put on a long term basisIt is not the right product for the jobUse your seam ripper or a small sharp scissors to open up one side of your blanket, buy some batting, put it inside, and quilt or tie your blanketYou do not need a quilting frame to tie a quiltWe lay quilts out on the big tables at church and tie them, using duct tape to hold the bottom layer in placeI have also tied quilts on the floor - even a queen size one once!
Hi, She may or may not grow out of itI have a 4 year old Ragdoll and she sucks on the carpet all the timeThis could point to either pica or be the equivalent of human thumb suckingAs long as she doesn't try pulling the fibers out of the blanket then I would consult a vet because this is a warning sign of picaThe other option, the equivlant of human thumb sucking, reminds her a lot of either her mom's milk or grooming herself and is therefore soothingGlad to hear she's eating wellGive your kitten a big hug and congratulations! Good luck :)
