Question:

Why does my cold air intake kit make my car run hotter?

I put a cold air intake kit on my 96‘ mustang(the kind that gets the cold air from inside the fender) and it makes my car run alittle bit hotter and alot hotter when its at idlecan anyone tell me why that is?

Answer:

The stock air box draws air from behind the fender liner and headlights, getting air from OUTSIDE the engine compartment. Now with this kit, it allows more air to get to the combustion chamber which in turn uses more fuel. Also add in that now the air comes from under the hood, not outside the car, and when idling at a red light the air inside the engine compartment is relatively stagnant and draws hot air from around the engine. Two causes for increased temperatures. If those cold air deals were so great, Ford would build Stangs that way, but they really suck.
mine is running super cold lol I don t get it, 1997 mustang v6. Runs amazing only had it a week,
