Question:

Why does the smoke detector keep chirping even with new batteries?

The smoke detectors are hard wired into the house and it chirps constantly even when there are none or new batteries

Answer:

I never actually had this problem with fire alarms, but I know exactly what you are talking about. I would not think that this is too unusual. That is the reason that you practice pulling the fire alarm. It seems so simple, but when you try to do it things don't work as planned. The instructions may be written so that the masses can understand them. Also, it depends on what mood you are in, your mind processes information differently depending on whether you are in a good mood or bad mood. You may not have eaten a good meal, which could have caused your blood sugar levels to be out of whack. You may not have slept well the night before. As you can tell, many reasons for this, keep them in mind, and keep trying. Eventually you will figure out how to do it, and it is important to know. Your frankfulness could very possibly save lives in the future.
i am assuming there is no longer gas going to the fireplace, so if thats the case you could cut the pipe off and fill the hole with mortar but the bigger issue is if the fireplace was ever made to burn wood, a gas fireplace is very different then a wood fireplace, they arent vented the same ,not made to handle smoke or as high of heat. if this was originally a wood fireplace someone converted then you can use it but if this was made to be a gas fireplace I would not recommend it at all.
