Question:

Why does youtube ask for a mobile phone number when registering now?

I live on an island. Whenever I enter my mobile phone number when I'm regestering, it says number not recognized. MY QUESTION:How do i make a new account without having to put my own mobile phone number in?

Answer:

Getting an actual working mobile phone number during the sign-up process is a way for YouTube to verify that you are a real person and it also prevents you from making hundreds of different accounts (unless you have hundreds of phone numbers too). So I assume that this island that you claim to live on doesn't offer cell phone service. That makes me wonder why you have a cell phone, if it doesn't work. My suggestion: Get a working cell phone. Perhaps go to the mainland and visit a public library and establish a YouTube account from there.
