I want to buy a new monitor to replace my CRT. My CRT supports 1600x1200 resolution. I do not want to buy an LCD that support 1680x1050. Overall there are fewer pixels with 1680x1050 than 1600x1200 and it does not support 1080p resolution.What are my options for an LCD monitor that supports 1920x1080?
It depends on the size you are looking at. There aren't meny lcd's lower than 32 inches with full 1920x1080 p resolution capabilities. Also you can always turn to plasma's. Try searching for Olevia, Vizio these are brands that offer 1080p in bigger screen sizes I belive starting at 42 inches. Or look at Samsung, Sony and Sharp. Much more exspensive but offer full 1080p capbilities starting at 32 inches. Also why do you need full 1080p unless you plan on buying blu-ray or hd-dvd or have a 360 elite or ps3. Other wise there is no support for that resolution, hd cable and sat use 1080i while sports channels use 720p.
Because manufacturers usually churn out units that are generally in demand in the market. You're 1920 x 1080 is not one of those monitors. Get the monitors with 4:3 ( 1600 x 1200 or greater) or 1:6 ( 1440 x 900 or greater ) aspect ratio ( horizontal : vertical ). They are affordable and high performance type. Hope that helps.
