Question:

Why is the 2nd floor of my home so hot in the summer?

I have a 30 year old cape cod in SCIn the summer the a/c is unable to keep up with the 100 heat outside, and the temperature on the 2nd floor rises to upwards of 85 degrees Fahrenheit each afternoonI have a separate unit for each floor of my home (forced air + heat pump combo units)The 2nd floor is finished, but not dormeredThere is an attic crawl through the center of the 2nd floor as well as crawl spaces in the eavesThe two bedrooms up there also have closets built into the eaves (short ones only suitable for kids clothes)The eaves are insulated as well as the attic floor but the insulation may be oldAny suggestions on how to better insulate so that this heat problem does not happen???

Answer:

Hot air rises so your second floor ac unit has to work harder than the ground floor unitYou second floor unit may be undersized or it may not be working properlyYour attic should have insulation that is about 30 inches deepIf not they you should have some more insulation blown in on topDo you have any big windows that face the morning or afternoon sun? If it is noticably warming standing in front of these windows then you may benifit from installing solar screens.
That will not workYou will need an Ethernet connection from the modem to the Linksys router to make this setup work.
the usb port is more than likely for the computer not the modemwhat is the model of the modem?
