Question:

why photosynthesis takes place in blue and red light?

On a wave length scale, the red light has more energy than blue light. But high photosynthetic activity is observed under blue light. Why not this happen in red light as this light carries more energy than blue light??. Do photosynthetic activity occurs in other colours of light like Violet, Indigo, orange, yellow etc?

Answer:

chlorophyll activates in presence of light of 680 and 700 nanometer wavelength and fortunately one of them is blue and other is red
Looks like its time you do an experiment buddy. Buy some Violet, Indigo, orange, and yellow lights and put plants under them. How do you measure photosythetic activity anyway?
Photosynthesis Takes Place Faster In
why photosynthesis takes place in blue and red light? Um, because the sun gives out a useful amount of light in those ranges. red light has more energy than blue light False. Shorter wavelengths have higher energy. high photosynthetic activity is observed under blue light Because photosynthesis takes place in red and blue light.
