What was the problem of it? Why was it replaced? Btw, the Hills Hoist replaced the clothesline I was wondering why.
I suppose because the Hills Hoist and other such types take up less room; also for a clothes line you have to have a fixing at each end, which might be difficult. I have a clothes line with one end fixed to a big tree, and the other to the house; if there were no tree there would be a problem. An advantage of the clothesline is that you can take it down easily if there's a party!
