Why won't my 1992 ford f150 go into park? And why won't it start in neutral?

Answer:

Shift linkage came loose, shift tube broke or the bushings wore out on the shift tubeRemove the fuse panel cover and dash trim panels and loosen the steering column retaining boltsCarefully lower the steering column down so you don't break the gear indicator cable and support it with a blockOn top of the column there is an aluminum tube that the shifter is hooked into, inspect this tube for cracks and inspect the plastic bushings that it rotates in for wearIf it is broken replace the tube and the bushings, you should be able to get the plunger inside the tube straightened out so it will work providing it hasn't already brokeAlso inspect the lever that is bolted to the end of the tube and attaches to the shift cable, it is held on with 2 torx bolts and they come loose quite oftenAll these parts are available at your Ford dealer.
