Why won't the zoning board let me build a watchtower on my property?

Answer:

Because they probably know your neighbors might object? Adventurous kids and teens might trespass on your property, climb your tower, fall out of it and then sue you. Normally I think zoning boards screw up and I do think you should be allowed to build a tower if the world were more normal. But this is a crazy world and I think the zoning board is protecting you.
Their buttheads. I'm getting the 4 tower castle, they start building next April. Of course I have several hundered acres in the middle of nowhere Arkansas. It will be visible from the highway tho.
still wanting to build your sniper tower huh crusty
What if you call it a silo? NO WAIT! You should call it the place where the federal government's mind-reading-beams can't hit your brain. You can offer your local zoning commission officers time in your watch tower to get away from the mind-reading beams. You should offer them the ability to shoot game at the same time! It's YOUR LAND right? They get away from Federal control AND free meat! Sounds like Watch Tower WIN to me!
