Question:

Will anything replace the keyboard?

Do you believe that anything (speech recognition, virtual keyboards, etc.) will replace the keyboard within the next few decades?

Answer:

I would say no for voice recognition because people would like to keep the things they want executed to be discrete and to themselves. Who wants to be heard when they want to search for porn?
Yeah, I believe that new things are going to come out and take away the keyboard
once you're waiting to purchase the keyboard from the producer, you will desire to be waiting to swap it your self. The keyboard is easily between the less stressful issues to activate a working laptop or laptop. Worst purchase might in all probability overcharge you.
I think we won't even need to move a muscle to type a letter. Of course virtual keyboards, speech recognition will be necessary so that we develop our technology further more. There are already experiments with people moving cursors with their own eyes (f.ex. patients that had strokes and can't move.). If we can monitor our brain, we are close to convert those signals into information. In the mean time, we must keep typing P
Speech recognition might in certain environments, but can you imagine the noise of everyone in a large office dictating into conventional microphones? Something better than keyboards needs to come along that's for sure, after all its still basicaly the old qwerty keyboard used in typewriters since the 1880's. Maybe a tiny transmitter microphone you stick on your throat so you dont have to speak outloud?
