Question:

will Cold Air Intake Help?

i just bought a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. 3.4L V6 supercharged 210hp. Will i benefit from having a cold air intake?

Answer:

Increase the pressure and one will increase the temperature, all things being equal. Hot air is less able to fill any given combustion chamber than cold air. So, theoretically an inter-cooler always helps. But. It will increase the weight and complexity of your car and because you will flow more air you'll tend to flow more gas. You might make more power, but can your car take the strain without further modification ? Are you a lead foot? Will this tend to increase the rate of the dreaded I just ran out in front of a motorcycle I didn't see while showing off to my girlfriend syndrome?
It already has one, as stated. Go look at your intake, for reference. The intake leads AWAY from the hot air around the engine, towards the cooler air near the front of your car, or behind your bumper. That IS a cold air intake. Nevermind that with a forced induction engine, the supercharger will compress the incoming air to a specific PSI anyway. So, no, changing the intake won't matter in the slightest. 7 psi of cold air, vs 7 psi of hotter air.is still 7psi of air.
It'll add 6HP+, make your care louder, and possibly improve gas efficiency a tiny bit. Or decrease efficiency if you rev your engine and have a lead foot.
