I was always under the impression that adding lemon to water helped aid in digestion and help to relieve heartburn and bloating. It would stand to reason that adding lime to water would do some of the same things...
Mostly the lime is added for flavor purposes. There are small amounts of vitamin C that you'll get, but only about 5% RDA. Again, the lime just gives the water some taste, so that you'll drink more water and not add calories.
If it's real lime, you get some of the nutrition from the lime (mostly Vit C), but you really don't get a whole lot as you're not adding a lot of lime in most cases. But, just the fact that it makes it easier/more encouraging for you to drink water is plenty of benefit. If it's just lime flavouring (meaning, none of the flavour is from a real lime), you're just getting the benefits of the water.
