Question:

Will vanity presses basically print anything?

I was just wondering about vanity presses, because a friend of mine sent his work at the exact same time as my own. We have a little wager going about who will get a positive response, and who will get a negative - if indeed they do give bad news. Because i have heard that vanity press will publish anything given to them if you are the one paying. Am i correct, or do they have standards as well, because in all honesty his work ain't to great.

Answer:

Of course they will have standards. Their company will be associated with your book. If I slammed my face on the keyboard for an hour, printed the results and sent it off with a fiver, I doubt it'd get printed. By the way, your writing doesn't 'sound too great' either if it is anything like it is in the question.
New and naive authors are far too excited concerning the possibility of having their artwork accessible for all of the international (properly, 0.5 a dozen human beings...) to work out - they'll choose for something. that is why i'm not an excellent fan of arrogance publishers. particular, there are those few people who're clever sufficient to correctly known that is not an computerized pot of gold (Our own Steven J Pemberton self-printed...) yet then you definitely get the different end of the dimensions... your chum in the link, and particular others (i'm particular most of the regulars will know who I mean right here) who without delay assume that because of the fact they are self-printed that they have got have been given it made. on a similar time as Steven did an exceedingly sturdy tale, and little question has interest in it, i might in no way choose for arrogance publishing. I basically want the protection a known writer can provide. Edit: $399 to positioned up a e book with them, and $a million,499 to get complete-print, e book and your own little member profile... wow. Love the way that the answerer's profile became into with ease created greater or much less on a similar day that the question became into asked.
This is the way I've heard it. Vanity press will publish anything. I mean anything. I've read a few books of friends who have published that way and it falls under the anything category. I'm sure you could send them rubbish and they will send you a letter back saying they have the perfect editor for you to work with for X amount of dollars. They will make suggestions, offer advice etc. Even if you don't change a word for, XX amount of dollars you can still have your work published. I say this because I have a friend and he was highly offended when they offered to edit the manuscript he submitted for additional monies. He didn't believe his work needed editiong. He considered his work perfect as it was. He sent it back to them without making a single change and they published it with spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and all in bold caps. Reading it hurt my eyes. At least the cover he choose was pretty but at $25 dollars a copy I would rather just go buy a piece of art.
From what I understand, yes. They will print any old drivel written by someone foolish enough to pay for it
