Question:

Windshield Wiper Problem?

The drivers side windshield wiper works but the passenger side doesn't. A concerned 91' Dodge Shadow owner!?

Answer:

Passable loose set screw but unlikely most likely someone probably tried to force it and stripped it this also happens when people don't remove the snow and expect the wipers to move the heavy load. remove the set screw cover. bottom of wiper arm. remove retaining nut and lift the arm off. check the drive are the teeth filled with aluminum. check inside wiper arm is the hole smooth are are there teeth. if the teeth are gone then you need a new wiper arm. Good luck
There is only 1 wiper motor and a few bars that control the arms. It's possible that 1 bar fell off. Turn the wipers on and have a look through the cowl. If you see a bar not moving or connected the plastic bushing probably wore out, and 1 end of the bar fell off. Also there are no set screws holding the arms on, the arms are splined and you need to lift the wiper blade a few inches off the windshield and pull out a little lock tab that holds the arm up, then pull the arm off the splined shaft. Check the splines to make sure thay are not worn smooth, as well as the splines inside the arm.
i ad a similar problem with a truck of mine. it may be dust buuilt up inside the switch. i had to ever so often turnthem on and off real fast to clear it out. seems the would work for a while after that. also check where the wiring harness plugs into the wiper moter, have had some trouble there to. as far as it bein the moiter it is possible but it will work every now and then so it kinda points else where.
