Question:

Windshield wipers randomly stop working!?

My parents have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. The wipers will randomly not work. You can turn the car off and back on, but that still doesn‘t help. They‘ve taken it to the dealer several times and of course it wouldn‘t happen for them. It finally did it, and they replaced the wiper motor. We got the Laredo back, and within a week, it happened again! It‘s now in the shop again. My parents are sick of the run-around they‘re getting with the ignorant, inconsiderate, and rude people at the dealer. So I‘m hoping someone here can help! They seem to not work when it‘s really cold outside, and after there‘s been a significant amount of moisture outside.

Answer:

i had the same problem with my chevy truck,as it turned out ,I needed to ground the wiper motor. i installed a ground wire from the wiper motor to the metal part of the vehicle frame. Ok ever since
It couldn't have been the Motor! The motor is controlled by the Wiper relay, which has a delay type feature. I'd pull it and check for shorts on back
Obviously, the dealer doesn't have a clue on how to fix the car. If they replaced the motor and it is still doing it, then more likely than not it is the actual wiper switch located in the steering column.
