Question:

WIndshield wipers stopped working completely!?

Two days ago they worked fine. I get into my car today and they won‘t turn on, not even a sound. No position will make a sound/make them function. Windshield wiper fluid will come out but again the wipers will not function. I have a 03 saturn ion, and I checked one of the fuses, but theres no way knowing if the diode‘s are dead. anyone have any ideass? Thanks.

Answer:

Check the fuse for the wipers. Make sure it's the right fuse. The next likely is the wiper switch, then the wiper motor. Wiper motors usually die slowly. Windshield wipers don't have diodes. Alternators have diodes.
There is a way to know if the fuses are dead. replace them!!! Pull the fuse and have a close look. A replacement is like $2.00 for a couple fuses. If the fuses are OK, then you have a bigger problem. Bad wiper switch, bad motor, broken connection in the wiring, etc. In the meantime, get some RAIN X and apply it to the windshield. IT will make driving in the rain easier.
Check the windshield wiper motor
