No. It could be made to work with ALOT of chopping, welding and mods however no, its now not even close to a bolt in. Lets with only some explanations why. 78 leaf springs, shocks 89 coil springs, minimize control fingers, panhard rod, torque arm, shocks seventy eight's rear end in wider than the 89's seventy eight uses SAE brake fittings, 89 uses metric ISO bubble fittings Now, your seventy eight has disc brakes in front, and drums within the rear. No longer 4 wheel drums IIRC all 2nd gens (1970-eighty one) had disc front brakes You must go means back to look drums on entrance sure the seventy eight and 89 are both camaros however diff gen. With camaros you have got gen runs. 1st gen 1967-sixty nine Second gen 1970-eighty one, 1/3 gen eighty two-92, 4th gen ninety three-02 In these stages constituents will interchange Go outside of your gen type and its a diff ball sport. Now if you need convenient rear disc brakes Seem on the seventy nine-eighty one firebird trans am WS6 Those rears will bolt proper under your seventy eight camaro and so they got here inventory with posi reas and disc brakes out again
Way too expensive, and no, it won't fit. I can't recall what that style of suspension is called as I'm not into Camaro's, but if you look at your rear axle, you notice that the upper control arms are attached to the differential housing up top, and that Camaro axle has no provisions for that. Any of the A/G-body axles will fit your car (1978-1988 Cutlass, Monte Carlo, Grand Prix, Regal, Malibu) however only the rare ones will have a good gear ratio, that being 3.42 or 3.73. Those would be in the Buick GN, the Monte SS, the Olds 442 and H/O, and I *think* the Grand Prix 2+2.as you can imagine, finding any of those but the Monte SS is pretty tough, and ONLY the Buick GN and Olds 442/H/O are anything special, as those are 8.5 ring gear, while ALL the other G-bodies got 7.5 ring gears, regardless of what people might say. Pretty easy to tell the difference visually, right off the bat, even installed in the car. Monte SS got 3.73's, but they aren't worth anymore (IMO) than any other A/G-body rear axle, as you could just change your gears to 3.73 and have the exact same thing.
