well, theyre pretty gross :| I dont think its necessarily a bad or abnormal fear to have given that they can also carry diseases too.
well im scared of them too since i had bad experiences with them if you are terrified of them then you might have a phobia, which means you are terrified of them for no reason
You can use 2 or more strands together to make the yarn any thickness you wantAs for making it softerKnitting up a piece and washing it then a dip in fabric softener may help and will also show if the fabric will shrink and if it washes okIf it is wool, or other natural fibre, you could knit it on a loose tension then felt it and use as dressmaking fabric.
