I have a 2001 Chevy S10, and my third brake light only lights up when the brakes are applied! Is this normal? Or is the 3rd brake light suppose to light up like the tail light brake lights? The tail light brakes light up dim but when brakes are applied they get brighter. 3rd brake light only lights up when brakes are applied, doesn't have the dim feature is that normal?? Please I need an answer ASAP!

Above is correct, it isnt a tailamp, it is a brake lamp only lights up with the brake pedal applied.
It is normal. The third brake light is only for when the brakes are applied. This gives other drivers a warning. It is also because some times it is difficult to tell the difference between running lights and brake lights if you did not see them go on. The third light on means the brakes are applied.
