Not even sure that non-natural fabrics/yarns like acrylics can be bleached out or at least as easily as natural fabrics/yarns like cotton, wool, silk, etc Synthetics also won't accept dye easily either (like from the red shirt you were planning to use) Plus, bleaching weakens fibers -the more the bleaching, or the stronger the bleach, the worse that will be tooand at the least, that will make your item wear out or even fray/break much more easilyI think your best bet is to realize, as mentioned, that most modern people don't cling to the old pink/blue stuff, and yellow is definitely fine for both even in that old way of looking at thingsSince you already have several colors, I'd say that those are already baby colors.or you could add another edging in a color you want to emphasize HTH, Diane B.
That is NOT the way to remove color from acrylic yarnDo NOT ever put chlorine bleach on fine yarns!! Not unless you want to destroy themThere is no such thing as boy colors and girl colors any moreIf you do not wish to give the blue to a girl, make another set, and save this one for someone having a boyIt just takes another couple of weeks to make another setGet busy and put the first set up and make another! But don't destroy your beautiful work!
Boy Colors? That is so dated there is no such thing as boy and girl colors anymore, when I was pregnant with my last baby I made an outfit to bring her home in I didn't know until I actually had her what the sex was so I made her and outfit that was yellow and blue with green trim and it was adorable nobody thought that it was a boy outfitYou worked hard on that project if you want to have pink I suggest adding a pink trim or running pink ribbon through the stitches on the edges, my aunt does that she makes blankets in pastel colors and keeps blue and pink ribbon on hand and then just weaves the ribbon in between stitches at the edge when she finds out the sex of the baby (takes about 5-10 minutes) so she always has a handmade blanket to welcome a new baby withWhat ever you do don't bleach that project you put so much time and love into it will ruin it and you put to much of yourself into it to ruin it.
Bleach will not change the color of an acrylic yarnThe color in the yarn is dyed into the liquid polymer that the yarn is spun fromYou also cannot overdye an acrylic yarnGive it to baby as is.
