I tried to get an autozone wiring harness but is intended for a truck with a towing package( which my truck doesn't). I was wondering what is the easiest and cheapest way to get a trailer light hookup on my truck?
take another look underneath your explorer, driverside rear. look up to where the taillight is may have the plug for the towing package tied up out of the way. should be a round plug, this is what you plug the harness you already have into. vehicle manufacturers are known for doing this to ease installation of such product at the dealers.
reese products carries a taillight converter with a four blade flat connector part number 118130. you can go to advance auto parts and they should have it in stock or they can get it in a day or two. the package should have instructions on how to wire it into your factory wiring. If your trailer does not have the flat four blade hookup then advace should have some sort of conversion for the trailer hookup as well. You still need the converter though to start with.
Take it to your local U-Haul trailer rental store. They usually have someone who can install hitches and do wiring for trailer lights.
