Question:

2000 Ford F150 Oil Pan Removal?

I need to remove my oil pan from my 2000 F150. I referred to Chilton's Manual and it said after it has been disconnected from the transmission and the 15 bolts removed from the top of the pan, then just drop it down, but the pan is oddly shaped and there is a beam underneath the forward part of the pan. It didnt look like it could fit past the beam, but Chilton's said it should drop, and nothing about a cross-beam. Now I have all the bolts and the silicone seal has to be removed and replaced, but the pan is just sittin on the cross-beam. It looks as if I might can get it out if I hoist the engine about an inch or two. Other than that I would have to drop the transmission too - I dont think that would be much fun though. Am I right about hoisting the engine an inch or two and if so, is there anything I need to know about hoisting engines that should be noted? Any advice?PS - I want to fix it myself, not send it to the shop.

Answer:

engine ? 4x4 ?
yea, your doing good so far, just raise it far enough for it to clear the oil pump, then it should slide right out.
im not sure no rely if the pass-member runs throughout the oil pan. i had this situation with oil pans on my seventy seven-seventy 9 lincoln city vehicles. i wrote and advised them 2 make a heavier oil pan yet have been given no respond. see in case you're able to make a handle the broker on changing the pan. however the ford 150 is a huge automobile. reliable success mike
i guess this 6 cyl if yes you ned to disconect engine from trans and hood hoist engine fwd and up lots ths a pain job you will also probably need to take off fan and exten rad rad shroud so you can lift engine high enough you still need to clear oil pump and trans have fun did not want to spoil your day but v8 is easyer pan is shorter but most times same stuff needs to come off if you on ground on a lift you can cheat get another 6 pack
