Although we used the buttons to unlock the car like we always do, when we try to start the car up, the alarm goes on. What can we do?
try disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery and letting it sit for about a half hour til the computer resets. if it continues to happen. you could locate the fuse for the car alarm and pull it (make sure it doesnt effect your car). you wont have an alarm system, but it wont honk the horn either.
My '92 Jeep doesn't have an alarm and personally, I think they are a waste of time. I've seen too many of them going off because the car gets touched or bumped or the wind blows too hard and I've noticed the people pretty much ignore them. My neighbor's used to go off in the middle of the night and it just P|ssed me off because it was only the wind. They go off so easily that it's the Cry Wolf syndrome. BTW, I keep my keys on a hook by the front door. I asked the question below and seems that it would be a moot point if the car alarm DID go off. Sorry
