Question:

2006 kx250f valves? please help!?

okay, so i have a 2003 cr125 that i wanted to trade for a 4 stroke bike, and i found someone with a 2006 kx250f that wants to trade. He said all the bike needs to be running are 4 valves. The bike is in very good condition from the pictures i saw. How much are the 4 valves going to cost if i bring it to a mechanic shop? is the trade worth it? or should i just keep looking? thanks!p.s.- my cr is in absolute mint condition, and i never even rode it because it is just to much bike for me and i am not use to 2 strokes

Answer:

Kx250f Valves
keep looking, they never need just valves, if it needs valves, the top end also needs to be rebuilt. when your already going to be in the motor that far, it would suck to get it back together and then the piston goes or something else that was getting abused when the valves were going. if you can`t do the work yourself it will be expensive, even if you can do the work you need to factor in parts, machine shop, and specialty tools. you could set up your cr125 for way less money, and make it work for you, i`ve seen little kids and girls at the races riding 125`s and they can`t touch the ground without blocks. and you`ll love that 2-stroke when it comes time to rebuild it, you could put all the best parts in it and do it yourself for under $300, compared to sometimes over $1500 for 4-stroke, take it from me i`ve done it, i`ve raced 4-strokes since 2001. if your not racing, stay on those 2-strokes for as long as you can, they will make you a better rider anyway, and keep riding, you`ll get used to it :-)
below $one hundred. I had mine adjusted final year at a broking and it value $seventy 5. yet ask them what they think of once you're taking the motorbike in so which you dont pay for some thing it dosnt prefer!
you have to pull the head and the timing chain and seat the valves and check the timing and----if you aren't a mechanic look out--it's a major operation--bike shops charge 80 up to 100 dollars an hour for labor and then there are the parts---look out
I'd leave it if I were you! It will need more than 'just 4 valves'. You'll buy it and then have to spend a fortune on the engine - not worth it. The valves are not that difficult to replace but it sounds like it's been thrashed. You should take your time and keep looking.
