Buy 100% post consumer waste paper. 18.8% of greenhouse gas emmisions come from deforestation and the paper industry. Also, don't support McDonald's. They cut down the amazon rainforest to house the cows for their meat. Think about how many cows a day that die for McDonald's. That number needs to live somewhere before it dies. Not to mention the amount of methane that's released from the cows.
Don't buy wood products made in China or other developing countries! Most of their wood comes from tropical rainforests and is often illegally logged. So by buying cheap chairs or whatever from Walmart, you may be directly promoting the cutting of rainforests. Look for Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified wood instead, or use bamboo products. Also, a lot of beef is raised on ranches cut from the rainforest. If we all eat less beef, this will reduce the need to raise more cattle (feedlots in the U.S. use 50% of all our corn production - don't blame ethanol for corn prices, blame beef and ham instead).
