For mine, I used wire coat hangars wrapped with gimpIf your teacher is really anal about using only found objects, you could use yarn from an old, beat up sweater or different colored fabric scraps from a few ratty t-shirtsUse hot glue to glue it, since it holds really well without any fuss Straws would be good too, even though they aren't very sturdyYou can find them in different colors tooAluminum foil is another option since it's really malleableThe only problem you might have is with the texture, though you can probably figure out a way to smooth it outAt least you'd be able to twist it, unlike the straws :o)
