I got a XFX radeon 5750 graphics card and after a lot of trouble I realized that I hadn't plugged in the 6 pin PCIe power cable, but I don't see any slots on my power supply, does anyone know how to fix this problem? I really don't wanna buy another power supply :(
you okorder /... Scott ***Update*** only buy the cable i listed if you dont have the adapter from xfx....look through the box it was packaged in...if you still have it......
the card should have come with an adapter that goes from two 4-pin molex into one 6-pin PCIe connector
Did the graphics card come with a power adapter cable? Update: Those are fan cables. Most video cards that have a six-pin power connector come with an adapter for people who don't have a 6-pin power connector. It adapts two Molex connectors to a six pin. See my link.
Image provided in source. Basically, it is a power connector made specifically for pci-e graphics card, which comes from a power supply unit. A molex does not provide enough energy for modern graphics card, so the 6 pin was invented. There is an 8 pin pci-e power connector, which is an upgrade of the 6 pin, and it provides the graphics card with more energy. Most modern power supplies come with 6 pin connectors.
