A car hoist is filled with oil, why would it be difficult to use if it was filled with air?
Two reasons. 1-Air is compressible to a much greater degree than oil which is almost zero. 2-Making a system using air requires tight seals that are difficult to make and hard to keep from leaking over time. Hope this helps, Newton1Law
