I have a 1991 Volvo 240. It has some electrical problems. the right passenger window goes really slow. and I had the AC compressor disconnected. so, the air conditioning unit and the windows run on the same fuse. When the AC is connected, and I try to use the windows, it blows the fuse. My mechanic said it was a bad AC compressor, but I got to thinking. could the window motor be what is blowing the fuse?
If the gadget has an on/off turn on the gadget attempt plugging in with this switched off. If the fuse blows this could point out a fault with the plug or cable If it blows once you start up the motor that's a fault with the motor. with it unplugged attempt spinning the shaft to be certain whether that's jammed. If no longer then that's probable a fault with the motor and the motor will desire finding out by capacity of a useful guy or woman (electrician) counting on the motor style it must be a subject with the capacitor(s) or the windings
They shouldn't be on the same fuse, and between them they are drawing too much current for the fuse which is installed. If your a/c is working fine normally, then the compressor is fine, you just need to get your wiring put right, or (not advised) put in a higher rated fuse. Your a/c was put on a different fuse originally for a reason.
If the window motor is slow it will require more energy to make it run, potentially causing an already weak or overused circuit to pop. Fix the window, you know it has a problem anyway. If the fuse still pops, then do the compressor. A nice upgrade would be to replace the fuse for the windows with an inline circuit breaker, that is the way they have been designed for years. Your mechanic would only need to split the wires at the back of the fuse box to do it.
I don't think it's your AC compressor on the same circuit, there isn't much electrical about the compressor except the high and low pressure switches. I think he meant the blower motor and the window motors are on the same fuse. Try using you heater and putting down the window, the heater and the AC use the same blower motor.
