So I have a single phase 115volt 1/4 HP ac motor. It has L1 L2 and ground, I hook it up, make sure L1 hot, L2 neutral...when I turn power on my circuit breaker flips and nothing happens with the motor. The wires did get warm though! What could be the problem?
That 30 year old motor finally froze up. Call the ac repair to fix it.
It's a 230 volt motor. L1 and L2 are both hot.
