ac not working new fan motor compressor kicks on fan wont turn?
Relay. or Did you change the motor capacitor when you changed the motor? If not would change it. Also are you sure it is wired correctly?
I will assume you mean that the outdoor unit's fan motor has just been replaced, the compressor runs but the new fan motor does not turn. The compressor and the outdoor fan motor are energized from the contactor at the same time. Both the outdoor fan motor and the compressor have a capacitor to assist in developing torque to start the motors and to provide a smooth running characteristic once they have come up to speed. When the new fan motor was installed, there should have been a new capacitor installed with it. The old motor may have required a capacitor that is not the correct rating for the new motor. Capacitors are normally replaced any time a new motor is installed. It is also possible that the capacitor was faulty in the first place, in which case it will not be able to work with the new motor either. The condensor unit ( the outdoor portion of your hvac system) often times uses a dual capacitor, meaning 2 capacitors in one shell. It is possible that the fan capacitor portion is bad and the compressor capacitor portion is okay. It is not unheard of for them to fail in that manner. Look for any oily discharge on the capacitor shell or a bulge in the shell. If the capacitor was replaced at the time the motor was changed, I would suspect that the wiring is connected incorrectly.
Check power to the relay, capacitor and wiring connections.
