it doesnt matter if its too big or too small. when i first got my hamster, he was used to me and all, but he wouldnt go near his wheel for about a week, and he probably goes on when your not looking you shouldnt take out the wheel it needs the excersise or else it will become over weight and it will die.
my hamster never used his wheel so i took it out there's nothing to worry about honestly as long as you get the hamster out for exercise in his ball it will be healthy hope this helps x
