Question:

Already changed water pump and still leaking???

I have a 1998 pontiac grand prix yesterday I started leaking anti-freeze so we ( me, dad, bf) checked and came up w/ h2o pump, all the classic signs. so $51 latter started her up and wouldnt you know the same thing. anyone have any tips????

Answer:

have you ever checked the radiator to make sure if that's utilising anti freeze? if so and you notice white smoke that's time for head gaskets. If not yet you nonetheless scent it then you fairly are very close to to blowing a hose or heater middle out. might have a small leak interior the radiator it is getting blown lower back into the cab.
I would go with what the Dodge guy said, dont just take anybodys word for this. good luck
yep........... your car has a 3100 or 3800 engine.... more than likley the intake gaskets are bad... take it to the shop and have it checked out..... this is a very common problem for these engines......dont listen to these other idiots they dont have a clue.....waterpump housing.....thats bullshiit
hoses that go to the water pump are common parts to leak also or the water outlet gasket/or even the thermostat housing
<Need a little more info. First, you say classic signs. Does that mean the leak was seen coming directly from the water pump? Through the hub or around the edges? When you replaced the pump, did you THOROUGHLY remove the old gasket and clean the pump seat completely? Use a new gasket? Is it leaking in the exact same way? Those are the main points for stopping a water pump leak. Otherwise, it might be hoses, a crack in the pump seat, a leaking head gasket or thermostat housing gasket. But, if you're sure it was the pump itself, take it back off, re-clean the seat and try a new gasket.
