Is it a carbon monoxide detector? if so- yourre in danger. it is an oderless gas. but if its a normal smoke detector pay attention if you used your oven when it went off. if not- just take out the batteries.
Have a direct talk with him in a calm voice about his behavior. Explain that it's unacceptable and that he has to show some respect. Ask him questions. Do you realize how I feel? What should I do if you act like this? Am I doing something to bother you? Ask him what it will take for him to respect you. Don't raise your voice and don't beat around the bush. Tell him if he doesn't behave he will have to have his video games, car, phone, or other privileges taken away. Explain in a very detailed way how you feel and make him feel guilty without seeming like you mean to. Cry in front of him if that's what it takes. Let him talk back, don't cut him off. Let him explain himself and complain if there's something bothering him. Respect him too, and maybe he'll respect you more. This is coming from a 15 year old.
