I have a 14' aluminum boat and trailer with a 25 horse engine I was wondering if i could pull it with a small car? Does anyone know about the weight of boat trailer and motor?
you won't have any problem with any car over say 1 litre
i once asked that same question about my 16' aluminum hull. i was able to supply some crucial details, year, make and model. but the best answer i got was roughly 1,000 lbs. my 16' aluminum boat has a 248 lb 60 hp outboard on it. hitch weight ranges from lift enough to curl with one finger to the weight of gear and batteries in the bow. my dad's 04 honda accord (4 banger w/ automatic) has no trouble at all pulling it to the local lakes, within 15 miles, and up the SMALL hills on the way to them. but i wouldnt dream of a long trip or major mountain ranges with it. thats what my chevy truck is for. its tranny is made for the load and wont overheat. as a guess, your total weight is 1,200 empty for the boat, trailer and outboard and 1,500 with gear. for a real answer, perhaps you can get an accurate one if you provide crucial details. or you can find somewhere with scales you can use. trucking companies, rockeries (where you get big rocks or lots of dirt for landscaping needs), major recylcers, lots of places do have scales you could probably use. you'll need to either disconnect the trailer and leave it with all tis weight on the scales or disconnect it fromt eh tow vehicle and weight the tow vehicle seperately.
Whoever you're procuring the boat from could have some concept of its load potential, and have the skill to respond to the question of if it may carry ~600lbs or so load (i anticipate you adult men could want to hold a cooler, some beers, some fishing rods or different miscellaneous stuff). A 12' could paintings ok do exactly no longer pass too heavy on the motor, however a 14' may well be somewhat extra comfortable and good.
