Question:

AMD Bulldozer or i5 ?

Hi so, I currently have a dual core processor and obviously want to upgrade, I do video editing and gaming alot, I have a choice ofupgrade to intel i5 2500korNew motherboard + AMD Bulldozer FX-4100 (and 8gb of ram)They are the exact same price and I have an AMD radeon GPU is that makes any difference ?Thank you

Answer:

i5 without a doubt. Better performance than the Bulldozer + easily overclockable
If you are going only with 1. i5 or 2. new mb, amd cpu and the 8gb ram ill go with #2 but if u are getting the i5 +mb +ram ill go with the i5 in a heart beat and no, the GPU wont make a difference
The i5-2500k is a lot more powerful than any AMD Bulldozer available, even the eight core one. Plus some bulldozers have been known to BSOD on certain games and applications. And after getting a new motherboard and AMD Bulldozer FX-4100, it will probably cost about the same as an i5-2500k and using your current motherboard.
GPU wont make a difference. What matters is whether you have an Intel or AMD board. Only the matching processor will fit in the socket. Of the two, though, if your building a system, the AMD is best.
the I5 2500k. not only has it been proven beyond a doubt to be a superb design, but its also quite powerful and will be for a while. the bulldozers, however, have been shown to have multiple flaws with its 4 and six core processors, making them not such a great option. their 8 cores are supposed to be great, however i do not own one and cannot speculate. And yes, you can use intel CPUs and AMD GPUS together with no problems. You just need to have the correct motherboard socket for whatever you choose for a CPU. If you have an AMD CPU now, then you need to get a new motherboard with the correct socket for the I5 2500k, Even if you buy the bulldozer, you need a new motherboard for the amd. So you need to factor in a new motherboard for both options.
